TOPIC: General Counsel…demonstrating value and achieving strategic influence
A growing number of business leaders now want tangible evidence of the value of the legal function.
More and more are asking their legal teams to provide it. As a result many ambitious in-house lawyers are asking themselves questions like: how do we demonstrate that the legal function adds value; how do we become more influential within the business and operate at the highest strategic level?
Some General Counsel believe that measurement through KPIs can help the legal function increase its influence, whilst others remain skeptical. Like Albert Einstein, the latter believe that: “Not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted.” Many in this camp believe that influence comes through more intangible means such as trust, self-awareness and well-defined relationships with key stakeholders, as well as ‘influence by association’ through a high performing, well respected team.
In this session the Nabarro team will open the debate further, highlight the findings of their four reports and share the insights they have gleaned from leading GCs in businesses across the globe.
