The Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Ordinance – what you need to know

The Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Ordinance is expected to come into force later this year.  Join us for this interactive panel discussion, in which speakers from Mayer Brown JSM's corporate, IP/TMT and litigation practices will offer practical tips and suggestions to help in-house counsel get ready.

SPEAKERS: Gabriela Kennedy, Vincent Law and Mark Stevens.

Gabriela Kennedy is a partner of Mayer Brown JSM, head of the Asia IP and TMT group and co-leader of Mayer Brown’s global Intellectual Property practice. She practises intellectual property, media, information technology and telecommunications law. She handles the full spectrum of intellectual property work from litigation to licensing, strategic advice and portfolio management. Gabriela advises extensively on technology and data protection issues in Hong Kong and throughout Asia, particularly in relation to business processing outsourcing, the cross-border transfer of data, data compliance and data breaches.

Vincent Law is a partner of Mayer Brown JSM. Vincent is a commercial litigator specializing in regulatory investigations and major commercial disputes. Among his various engagements in the regulatory regime, he has advised listed companies, directors, financial institutions and professional firms in investigations by regulatory bodies. He has also advised major corporations on internal investigations relating to suspected bribery, money laundering and other regulatory issues. In his litigation practice he has advised in major shareholders and family disputes, acts for liquidators and trustees-in-bankruptcy in insolvency litigation, and regularly represents gaming entities in gaming-related litigation.

Mark Stevens is a partner of Mayer Brown JSM. He has extensive experience in advising clients on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and private equity investments. He is experienced in negotiating, drafting and completing subscription agreements, shareholder agreements and joint ventures. He advises on company and commercial transactions (domestic and cross-border) focusing primarily on acquisitions and sales of companies, groups of companies and assets.

Rachael Guan is Mayer Brown JSM's senior legal trainer and legal analyst. Prior to joining Mayer Brown JSM, Rachael practised as an infrastructure lawyer in Hong Kong for 4 years, and in London for 7 years.
