TOPIC:  The Hong Kong fintech landscape – What in house counsel needs to know

As all businesses deal with traditional financial services firms, the industry is facing an immense disruption that impacts their customers as much as themselves. Fintech is considered a trend which will slowly become a norm that all in-house counsel need to know about, even if they don't realise it now.

This session will take in house counsel through some of the main current areas of development and regulation in Hong Kong:

  • Government support and HKMA, SFC and OCI initiatives
  • The new Hong Kong Stored Value Facility regime
  • The Money Service Operator Regime
  • Crowd-funding and peer-to-peer lending: regulatory constraints
  • Data protection regulatory aspects

SPEAKERS: Mark Parsons, Partner, Hong Kong at Hogan Lovells

Mark is one of the Asia-Pacific region's leading advisors on commercial and regulatory work in the fintech space, as well as telecommunications, data protection and cyber security regulations, recognising that regulatory issues are often the threshold question for new business models and products and services, and that the regulation of data and, technology are increasingly board level issues.
