TOPIC:  IP Infringement and Shadow Companies

In this seminar, Jezamine Fewins and Jonathan Chu will provide an overview of types of IP protection in Hong Kong and then discuss the issue of Shadow Companies and the different types of IP infringement claims that can be made against such companies. They will then wrap up with the steps the Companies Registry is now taking against Shadow Companies.

SPEAKERS: Jezamine Fewins, Partner and Jonathan Chu, Partner - Stephenson Harwood

Jezamine heads up the employment and intellectual property departments in the Hong Kong office. She is a seasoned litigator and has acted in a number of high profile cases litigated in Hong Kong. She is ranked as a leading lawyer in both fields by legal publications. Clients praise her responsiveness and her ability to simplify the issues whilst providing clear and practical advice.

Jezamine has a solid track record in respect of enforcement matters relating to clients’ intellectual property rights. She often appears in court to obtain prohibitive and mareva injunctions. She has been particularly successful in restraining cross border infringement activities and freezing accounts to which the proceeds of sales of counterfeit goods have been remitted.

Jonathan is an intellectual property lawyer with substantial experience in IP litigation and enforcement strategies in Hong Kong and China. He has advised and represented numerous well-known international companies and brand owners on successful large scale enforcement efforts in the region. Besides litigation, Jonathan’s practice also covers advising on non-contentious intellectual property and commercial matters, including advising on a broad range of matters tailored for start ups.
