Lunch Presentation

The HKCCA’s Executive Committee invites you to the following presentation, hosted by Norton Rose Fulbright.

Food and drinks will be provided. 1 Law Society of Hong Kong CPD point has been accredited.  New York and California Approved Jurisdiction policy may apply.

TOPIC:  Big Data and Internet of Things

Big Data and Internet of Things (IoT) are two of the most-talked-about technology topics in recent years. They are changing the world and every business needs to consider their implications. IoT increases the amount of data available for analysis, but there are significant barriers to overcome before the potential benefits can be fully realised.

In this session, we will cover the basic concepts of big data and IoT and the relationship between the two; the legal issues and considerations arising from the newness of these 2 concepts, with a particular focus on privacy and cybersecurity; and how to reduce the risks associated with collecting and using data in this Big data-IoT era.

SPEAKER: Anna Gamvros, Partner, Norton Rose Fulbright

Anna is a privacy and technology lawyer based in Hong Kong.

Anna's practice focuses primarily on technology and communications related issues. She advises clients on licensing and technology agreements, outsourcing, privacy and data protection, and telecommunications and Internet regulatory issues. She has assisted clients with Hong Kong and China based projects and well as having a wealth of experience in multi-jurisdictional projects, particularly in implementing e-commerce and data management projects in Asia.

Anna is co-author to Internet Law in Hong Kong published by Sweet & Maxwell and is recognised in the Legal 500 Asia-Pacific and Chambers Asia-Pacific as a leading individual for her expertise in the area of technology and data protection, in particular for her "extensive IT transactional work".
