TOPIC: FATCA, Asset Tracing and Shareholder Protection in the BVI, Bermuda and Cayman Courts
SPEAKERS: Jonathan Culshaw – Asia Managing Partner and James Noble – Partner at Harneys.
Jonathan Culshaw is the Asia Managing Partner and Global Head of Investment Funds and Regulatory.
Jonathan advises on the establishment and maintenance of all types of Cayman Islands hedge, venture capital and private equity funds and the structuring of private equity portfolio acquisitions and disposals. His practice also includes providing Cayman Islands and BVI law advice on the offshore aspects of corporate transactions (mergers and acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures, takeovers, listings and corporate restructurings) and on banking and finance matters, including credit and security issues. He is ranked as a leading offshore lawyer by Chambers, Legal 500 and IFLR1000.
Prior to joining Harneys as a partner in 2008, Jonathan trained and worked for seven years at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London and Hong Kong and then practiced for six years with Walkers in the Cayman Islands.
James is a Partner in Harneys’ BVI and Cayman Litigation and Restructuring Department where he specialises in shareholder litigation and hedge fund disputes. James also has a broad range of experience in financial services litigation and insolvency.
Beginning his career with Clayton Utz in Australia, James subsequently worked as a senior associate in the London and Sydney offices of Norton Rose Fulbright for seven years before moving offshore. James has experience in a broad range of domestic and international disputes with a particular emphasis on banking and financial services litigation and arbitration.
James also has experience in advising clients on litigation funding in Australia, the United Kingdom and the Cayman Islands.
