TOPIC: Amended PRC Trademark Law: What Now?
Changes to China’s Trademark Law entered into effect on May 1, 2014, which offer a range of new tools for protecting trademarks. The changes of most importance relate to civil and administrative enforcement as well as protection against bad faith registrations at the register. The speakers will provide an overview of these changes and strategies for testing their utility in practice.

Dan Plane, Director, SIPS; Joe Simone, Director, SIPS
Dan and Joe have long experience in international law firms assisting multinationals and Hong Kong-based companies in protecting their IP in China and the region. Dan previously worked in-house at LVMH and Nokia, focused mainly on brand protection and supply chain integrity. Joe has worked in Hong Kong since 1988, helping leading international brands in a wide range of industries in registering their brands, dealing with registry pirates and pursuing innovative enforcement strategies. SIPS is an IP boutique based in Cyberport created in 2012.
