With more stringent regulatory requirements over business transactions and operations all over the world, in-house counsel are encountering ever-growing challenges in performing their compliance and gatekeeper role for their companies.  FTI Consulting and Howse Williams Bowers (HWB) are organising a lunch seminar on “Regulatory-driven Investigations: What You Need to Know” to address the latest issues in-house counsel are facing. The speakers will also share hands-on experience and insights relating to fraud, investigations and regulatory issues involving listed companies, from investigative and legal perspectives respectively.

SPEAKERS:  

David Holloway, Senior Managing Director, FTI Consulting

David Holloway is a senior managing director and leader of the Forensic & Litigation Consulting segment as well as co-leader of the Global Risk and Investigations practice of FTI Consulting in the Asia Pacific region.  

David has more than 38 years of experience in investigations in Asia, with significant experience in the investigation of all types of business and financial fraud, corruption, conflict of interest situations, mass staff defections, theft of trade secrets, anti-trust matters and other corporate integrity-related issues. He is also highly experienced in multi-jurisdiction asset searches, anti-money laundering and FCPA/bribery investigations; in the conduct of sophisticated business intelligence, political and market entry risk assessments and investigative due diligence assignments; in consulting on brand integrity and product counterfeiting issues in emerging markets; and in crisis contingency planning and response.

David has successfully completed engagements across the Asia Pacific region and globally for corporate clients and their legal advisors in most industry sectors, including financial services,pharmaceuticals, medical devices, food and beverages, electronics, construction and infrastructure, automotive, telecommunications, media and manufacturing.

David began his consulting career with a multinational corporate investigations firm in 1996 and he joined FTI Consulting in July 2006. Previously, he served for 22 years with the Royal Hong Kong Police, including periods as head of the Hong Kong Interpol national sub-bureau, in criminal intelligence and as deputy head of the Commercial Crimes Bureau.

Jill Wong, Partner, Howse Williams Bowers

Jill specialises in financial services and corporate regulatory and compliance issues.

She was previously Deputy General Counsel at the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and was also in-house counsel at Credit Suisse.  In addition, Jill has also worked in leading international law firms in Hong Kong. Her unique experience allows her to advise on both on contentious and non-contentious issues, and often in both capacities for the same clients. This makes Howse Williams Bowers' regulatory practice unique in its ability to provide in-depth and constructive insights to clients from all perspectives. 

Jill's experience compasses all aspects of banking and securities laws and rules affecting listed companies. She regularly represents clients (including senior management) in SFC, HKMA and HKEX investigations and inquiries. She is also active in new areas of regulatory scrutiny such as money-laundering, sponsor liability, corporate governance, privacy, retail payment systems and competition. 

She has been identified as a leading lawyer in legal directories such as Chambers Asia Pacific and IFLR 1000.  She is named as an External Counsel of the Year in Asian-Mena's annual "Representing Corporate Asia and Middle East Survey 2013".
