Lunch Presentation

The HKCCA’s Executive Committee invites you to the following presentation, hosted by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

Food and drinks will be provided. 1 Law Society of Hong Kong CPD point has been applied for.  New York and California Approved Jurisdiction policy may apply.

TOPIC:  US & EU regulatory and sanctions developments

Regulators continue to look to Asian markets as enforcement targets.  US and EU policy makers continue to use sanctions as instruments of foreign policy.  This approach can have a far-reaching impact on efforts to raise capital and find new opportunities in Asia.

As in-house counsel, how do you keep abreast of these developments and their practical impact on cross-border operations and investments?  In this panel discussion, our speakers will address issues ranging from minimising US and EU regulatory and litigations risks for cross-border operations and investments; the Hong Kong Stock Exchange approach towards sanctions risks;  and lessons learned from anti-corruption/sanctions fines against Asian operations.

SPEAKERS

This session will feature members of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s global litigation, investigations and corporate teams based in the US and Hong Kong:

William Robinson is a partner in our Hong Kong office with particular expertise in multi-jurisdictional investigations and EU regulation; Glen Kelley is a leading sanctions and anti-corruption practitioner in the US and a former attorney-advisor with the U.S. Department of State; Matthew Galvin is a Mandarin-speaking member of our Global Investigations team who focused on compliance, risk management, and investigations in Asia; David Cotton is a counsel in our Hong Kong office who recently spent a year as a member of the senior management team of the Listing Department of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.
