Latham & Watkins' Women Enriching Business (WEB) and Hong Kong Corporate Counsel Association proudly presents the first in a series of discussions with senior female leaders who have leveraged their law degree to work in various non-legal fields.

On 16 November, we will sit down with Su-Mei Thompson, a former corporate lawyer at Linklaters and now the CEO of the Women's Foundation in Hong Kong.  Earlier this year, Su-Mei was also the recipient of the HKAH/Tatler Woman of Hope Award for Power & Influence.  Su-Mei will share stories from her distinguished career in law, entertainment, media, the arts and most recently as the leader of a non-profit organisation.

SPEAKER

Su-Mei Thompson - CEO, The Women’s Foundation

Su-Mei Thompson is the CEO of The Women’s  Foundation (TWF), an NGO  dedicated to the  advancement of women and  girls in Hong  Kong through research,  community programs,  and education and  advocacy. TWF's signature  programmes include a Financial Literacy and  Employability Programme for marginalised communities of women, and its Life Skills and Gender Awareness Programmes for adolescent girls and boys. Meanwhile, TWF's highly acclaimed Mentoring Programme for Women Leaders and Leading Women Speaker Series are helping to build the pipeline of female talent for senior executive and non-executive roles. In 2013, Su-Mei founded the 30% Club HK, a group of chairmen and CEO leaders who are committed to bringing more women onto corporate boards.

Su-Mei started her career at Linklaters as a corporate finance associate and went on to hold senior management positions at The Walt Disney Company, the Financial Times, and Christie’s. A Cambridge, Oxford and IMD graduate, Su-Mei was the winner of the 2015 AmCham Women of Influence Award for Non-Profit Leader of the Year and HKAH/Tatler Women of Hope Award for Power & Influence. She has also been recognised as one of Hong Kong's 100 Most Influential People by Debrett's and the SCMP.

Su-Mei serves on the Equal Opportunities Commission of Hong Kong. Other notable achievements include being a recipient of the Andy Choa Scholarship which sponsors Hong Kong NGO leaders to attend the SPNM program at the Harvard Business School. She also serves on the boards of Natural Beauty Bio-technology Limited and Opera HK, and is a council member of The Cheltenham Ladies College, her alma mater.
