TOPIC:   Benefits of Conducting Anti-corruption Risk Assessments

The importance of having an anti-corruption risk assessment program has come into sharp focus in light of recent regulatory enforcement trends. They show that no multinational company, regardless of the robustness of its compliance program, is invulnerable to investigation for the misconduct of its employees and agents, particularly where it operates in emerging markets like China. This presentation will discuss the following:

  • Basic components of an anti-corruption risk assessment
  • The framework underlying risk assessments including international laws, leading compliance practices and current enforcement trends
  • Reasons companies conduct anti-corruption risk assessments
  • Our experience of corruption hot spots for multinationals operating in Asia
  • A step by step guide to an anti-corruption risk assessment: to include scoping and risk profiling procedures, document and data review, interviews, transaction testing, controls walkthroughs and reporting and remediation
  • Best practice considerations - leveraging technology and tailoring a program specific to your organisation
  • Q&A – open to the floor
