TOPIC: Update on copyright law and online issues in Hong Kong and China

The presentation will summarise the recent developments on the proposed changes to the copyright laws in Hong Kong and China and also a discussion on online issues in China.

SPEAKERS: Theresa Mak, Partner and Sunny Su, Associate, Rouse.

Theresa Mak, Partner.

Theresa works in Hong Kong, working on a wide range of IP matters, both contentious and non-contentious. Before joining Rouse, Theresa trained with Hong Kong law firm, Wilkinson & Grist. She then moved to London to study for a Masters of Law degree at University College London. After graduating, she practised as a litigation solicitor in a local law firm and then worked as a solicitor in the Intellectual Property Department of the Hong Kong Government, where her duties included acting as a hearing officer for ex-partes and inter partes interlocutory hearings on trade mark matters.

Theresa has experience in both non-contentious and contentious matters, including the filing and prosecution of trade mark applications and the provision of advice on a range of IP issues.


Sunny Su, Associate.

Sunny Su joined Rouse in 2014 as an associate with the Dispute Resolution Team and is a practicing Chinese attorney-at-law. Before joining Rouse, she has been worked for renowned UK and US firms (Jones Day and Orrick) for twelve years.

Ms. Su’s practice focuses on intellectual property related matters, advising clients on trademark/copyright prosecution, litigation and enforcement as well as portfolio management. She provides counseling on IP related commercials and advice, technology transfer, franchising, employment agreements particularly confidentiality, non-competition and non-solicitation.
