TOPIC: Review of China's Capital Markets Enforcement in 2016

The China Securities and Regulatory Commission (CSRC), China's capital markets regulator, captured much of the world's attention in 2016 by ordering fines and penalties of nearly RMB4.3 billion for securities fraud and market misconduct committed by market participants. Navigating the minefield of China’s regulatory regime for capital markets becomes ever more pressing and challenging for international financial institutions. Zhong Lun partner Alan Xu has advised clients on a number of CSRC investigation and enforcement cases over the years. Alan will share his first-hand accounts and knowledge of the CSRC’s enforcement practices and policy trends with leaders and counsels of financial institutions.

SPEAKER: Alan Xu, Partner

Mr. Xu focuses on advising clients in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, capital markets offerings, and regulatory and enforcement proceedings. He has advised a number of high profile direct investment, M&A and restructuring transactions, some of which received awards and recognition from business publications and organizations such as Financial Times, Asia Transformation & Turnaround Association (ATTA), etc.

Prior to joining Zhong Lun, Mr. Xu was a partner at the international firm Simmons & Simmons.
