HKCCA and FIDA Women in Law and Business Series

The HKCCA and The Hong Kong Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) are proud to announce the second session of their Women in Law and Business Series, kindly hosted by Slaughter and May.

SPEAKERS:

	Sandra Wong and Julie Tuan, Founders and Proprietors of Lola’s Ice Pops and Lily & Ran Artisan Ice Cream. Sandra Wong began her career as a criminal prosecutor in the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, primarily focused on trials involving illegal possession and use of guns, felony assaults and drug related cases. After 5 years of public service, she went into private practice in the medico-legal defence field. In 2007, Sandra moved with her husband (also a lawyer) to Hong Kong. She became qualified as a solicitor here and continued to specialise in medico-legal defence work in both civil and criminal cases. Originally from California, Julie Tuan worked for several years as a corporate attorney in San Francisco. After moving to Hong Kong to join her husband (also a lawyer) in 2005, she continued to practice as a corporate finance attorney for global law firms in both Hong Kong and Shanghai. In 2010, both women became first time mothers. During playgroup for their children, they hatched a plan to bring fresh, handmade ice pops to Hong Kong: a fun and healthy alternative to the artificially flavoured, chemical and preservative-laden frozen confections available in Hong Kong at the time. In 2012, they founded Lola’s Ice Pops, Hong Kong’s first artisanal ice pops company. In 2015, they expanded their product line to include artisan ice creams under the brand name Lily & Ran, named after their daughters. Today, Lola’s Ice Pops and Lily & Ran Artisan Ice Creams are sold throughout Hong Kong in high-end supermarkets, specialty retail stores and private clubs, including City'Super, the Aberdeen Marina Club, the Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club and the Ladies’ Recreation Club. Their company also has a thriving catering business, particularly for promotions and product launches, for brands including Chloe, J. Crew, Jimmy Choo, Kate Spade and Pucci, among others. Their products are also popular for company socials and as staff treats for all types of corporates and – not surprisingly – law firms!
	Nadia El-Mahmoud Koshy trained and qualified as a solicitor in Hong Kong where she practised law for approximately 10 years in the area of Dispute Resolution (Commercial Litigation and International Arbitration). During this time she acted for both individual and corporate clients on a range of matters including commercial disputes, medical negligence, insurance and employment related matters. In 2013, she switched industries completely when she co-founded Zahrabel Dining Club with her sister, Nysreen El-Mahmoud. Zahrabel is a second generation family-run establishment following in the footsteps of Zahra Restaurant, a pioneer of Lebanese cuisine in Hong Kong owned and managed by their parents for over 15 years. Nadia is extremely passionate about Zahrabel, which is a true homage to her family's beloved Zahra, through which she was first introduced to the F&B industry. At Zahrabel, Nadia wears multiple hats including Restaurateur, Executive Chef, Events Coordinator, and Recruitment & Training Manager. Her aim is to offer patrons a unique and authentic culinary experience whilst using Zahrabel as a platform to promote causes close to her heart.
MODERATOR:	Lin Shi, President of the HKCCA. Lin is the Co-Deputy Head of the IPO Transactions Department in the Listing Division of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited and has served as member of the Executive Committee of the HKCCA since 2008 as Treasurer and was elected President in 2015. Prior to joining the HKEx, Lin was a Senior Vice President covering Investment Banking Legal and General Counsel of Greater China with Bank of America Merrill Lynch from 2007 – 2012. Before that, she worked at Allen & Overy in Hong Kong and New York and Fulbright & Jaworski in New York. Lin is member of the New York state bar. She received her B.A. from Pomona College, cum laude, and her J.D. from New York University.
