Jamie Stranger, partner of Stephenson Harwood A disputes expert with a focus on corporate insolvency, commercial litigation, fraud and professional liability, Jamie has been in Hong Kong for 13 years and is recognised by Chambers Asia Pacific as “an excellent practitioner who is really good to have in your corner”. Hong Kong’s only association of in-house counsel run for in-house counsel by in-house counsel. In the Hong Kong corporate insolvency market, Jamie advises in respect of liquidations, receiverships, restructurings, schemes of arrangements, officer claims, preference actions and examination proceedings. He heads up the Hong Kong insolvency and restructuring team. Since 2011, Chambers Asia Pacific recognised Jamie as a “leading individual” for insolvency and restructuring. Jamie regularly deals with shareholder and family disputes, fraud, injunctions and professional liability claims. He acted for Samuel Tak Lee in the high profile matrimonial and related criminal investigation concerning his son’s divorce. Jamie is also regarded as a trusted advisor on professional liability, risk and reputation issues to accounting and insolvency firms.

Ian Childs, senior associate of Stephenson Harwood A very capable litigation solicitor with a civil, criminal and regulatory practice. Before qualifying as a solicitor Ian served as a senior officer in Hong Kong’s and then Singapore’s Police Forces. Since 2010 he has been an active member of Hong Kong’s Duty Lawyer Service appearing regularly for the charity’s clients in Hong Kong’s Magistrates’ Courts. Ian regularly acts for listed companies, SFC regulated businesses and individuals being subjected to a SFC investigation or with a regulatory issue. He also frequently represents clients who have been arrested or who are having their homes or offices searched. Having been on a recent secondment with Hong Kong’s premier commercial bank he regularly advises financial institutions about trade finance and asset recovery matters, and has particular expertise concerning factoring arrangements.
