TOPIC: An introduction to changes in the OTC derivatives regulatory landscape from a global perspective – Recent regulatory initiatives in the US, EU and Asia
Given that the regulatory requirements in the US, EU and Asia are developing at a different pace, we will briefly discuss the recent regulatory initiatives in the major jurisdictions including Hong Kong, and whether harmonisation of the OTC regulations could be achieved.

Christopher Whiteley
Partner, Asia Head of Securities and Derivatives Group, Ashurst Hong Kong
Chris specialises in OTC and repo transactions including hedging and complex strategic or funding transactions together with related credit support arrangements or other credit risk mitigants. He has practised as a derivatives lawyer in London, Hong Kong and Paris and has also spent a number of years at JP Morgan in London as part of the CVA team and as a structurer for the corporate derivatives desk. He was a delegate and involved in the drafting for the 2001 Vienna Convention on Assignments of Receivables in International Trade. He is recommended in a number of legal directories. He is qualified in England and Wales and Hong Kong.
Zoe Lam
Associate, Securities and Derivatives Group, Ashurst Hong Kong
Zoe is a lawyer in the finance department of Ashurst Hong Kong. Her focus is on structured financing, debt capital markets and derivative transactions. Zoe finished her traineeship programme at Ashurst, during which she was seconded to the securities and derivatives group in London.
