The HKCCA’s Executive Committee invites you to the following Half-Day Conference, hosted by Bird & Bird at the industrial-chic venue Beef & Liberty, California Tower.
TOPIC: Digital Disruption and the legal landscape
Technology and the digital world heavily impact all aspects of our business and social lives. We live and work in an age where the adoption of technology is a must in order to merely keep up with the pack, let alone stay ahead. With this comes a set of legal challenges that businesses across all industries need to face, and adapt to, in order to survive.
Digital disruption through the advent of the Internet of Things, Uberization, FinTech, Artificial Intelligence and the cloud, to name but a few, have all impacted the legal landscape from the way traditional corporate deals are transacted and funded, through the protection and exploitation of IP, to data flows and retention as well as how people are now employed.
AGENDA:
With the rapid rise of big data and data analytics, companies begin to realise the value of the data and database they have. We are now seeing innovative use of the data. It is therefore no surprise that the age old issue of ownership of data and database resurfaces. In this seminar, Michelle and Clarice will look at:
(1) how law in Hong Kong and China addresses the ownership issue, contrasting of the approach taken in the EU; and
(2) key legal issues to look out for in M&A or commercial transactions where data and database is involved.
In this seminar Richard and Robert will explain:
· Injunctions: what are they and how do you get one?
· New forms of injunction which have evolved to meet the different challenges posed by the digital world
· The creative approach being taken by claimants to more traditional forms of injunction to maximise their value and efficacy.
