SPEAKERS:
Nick Seddon, Director, Seddon & CO
Nick is a lawyer who qualified in England and Wales in 1984. For over 20 years of his career he has been managing or advising law firms in the UK and Asia.
He became a partner at the age of 27, became managing partner of DLA Piper’s office in Birmingham, United Kingdom in 1995 and was elected to the firm’s Global Managing Board in 1998. His practice was corporate law with a particular emphasis private equity.
In 1999 he was headhunted by a client to take up the role of CEO of a UK based technology business.
In 2003 he returned to DLA Piper and in 2004 came to Asia as the firm’s Asia Managing Partner. Between 2004 and 2008, with Nick at the helm, the firm’s Asia revenues increased by 350%.
In 2008 he joined Eversheds, as their Asia Managing Partner, to establish offices in Hong Kong, Singapore and latterly Beijing. He left Eversheds in 2013.
Since 2013 he has run his own business based in Hong Kong which concentrates on two areas. He provides services and advice to law firms and other professional service firms and he is a partner in a private equity firm. He regularly speaks at conferences and chairs various law firm management events.
Stuart Witchell, Managing Director, Berkeley Research Group
Stuart is the Asia–Pacific leader of BRG's Global Investigations + Strategic Intelligence practice. He has significant experience in the conduct of sophisticated business intelligence and reputational due diligence assignments in Asia and globally; major fraud and corruption investigations including FCPA; in multi-jurisdictional asset searches; in discreet strategies to assist with hostile takeovers; in provision of evidence for litigation support, including anti-dumping cases; in consulting on brand protection and product counterfeiting issues in emerging markets; and in crisis contingency planning and response.
