ACC Hong Kong and The Hong Kong Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) are proud to announce the third session of their Women in Law and Business Series, kindly hosted by Slaughter and May.


In this session, we will hear from international lawyers who have transitioned into a career in academia in Hong Kong. Cocktails and canapés to follow.

SPEAKERS:


Farzana Aslam, HKU Principal Lecturer

Farzana joined the Faculty of Law, University of Hong Kong in 2007.

Prior to joining the Faculty of Law, Farzana practiced at the London Bar for a period of 7 years before joining Goldman Sachs in 2001 as their principal in-house employment counsel for the Asia Pacific region. Farzana is an experienced trainer, facilitator and executive coach. She has consulted on a full range of employment law, diversity, cross-cultural and cross-border management and HR issues across the Asia Pacific region.

She is co-editor (with Professor Rick Glofcheski) of Employment Law and Practice in Hong Kong (Sweet & Maxwell Asia, October 2010, 799 pp) (Second Edition due to be published in 2015).

In 2011 Farzana was jointly awarded the Faculty Research Output Prize for Employment Law and Practice in Hong Kong (Hong Kong: Sweet & Maxwell Asia, 2010, 799pp).

Farzana serves on the Editorial Boards of the Asia-Pacific Journal of Human Rights and the Law and the Asian Journal of Legal Education.


Chantal Hébert, part-time teacher at French International School Hong Kong.

Chantal Hébert holds a Master of Education from The University of Hong Kong, a Master of Laws from the University of London, and a Juris Doctor and a Bachelor of Education from the Université de Moncton.

She is currently teaching part-time at the French International School of Hong Kong, across both French and English programmes at the primary school level. Chantal previously spent 9 years at Baker & McKenzie, 8 years as a Knowledge Management Lawyer in finance and banking followed by a year as the firm’s Graduate Recruitment Manager.

Prior to moving to Hong Kong, Chantal worked in a major law firm in Toronto and also as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law of the Université de Moncton where she taught mainly in corporate and business law. A very long time ago, she also taught primary school …
