TOPIC:

Businesses throughout the world use third-party dispute finance as a capital and risk management strategy for their complex international disputes.

This unique form of corporate finance is now available to parties involved in Hong Kong arbitrations, thanks to amendments to the Arbitration Ordinance (Chapter 609) which came into effect on 1 February 2019.

It is therefore essential for corporate counsel to be versed in the practicalities of third-party finance to advance their company’s interests, including cost-budgeting, risk-mitigation and accounting benefits.

In this lunchtime seminar, Cheng-Yee Khong and Tom Glasgow of IMF Bentham will explain how corporates benefit from third-party finance, with an emphasis on accounting features and the practical steps involved in obtaining finance. They will also address typical return structures and the common features of a funding agreement.

IMF Bentham is one of the most successful litigation and dispute financiers in the world. The ASX-listed company (ASX:IMF) is headquartered in Australia and has offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, London and throughout Australia, the US and Canada.
