The ACC Hong Kong Board of Directors invites you to the following presentation, hosted by Steve Vickers & Associates.

2020 has seen a number of severe and unanticipated events associated both with the pro-democracy movement and also the corona virus outbreak-culminating in the passing of a National Security law in Hong Kong. From a broader perspective US China relations have deteriorated and the election of a largely anti-PRC Taiwanese government has further escalated these tensions. From an international business perspective there has rarely been such pronounced political risk to the hitherto stable Hong Kong business environment. Therefore 2021 will be a year of both extraordinary risk but also of potential significant upside.

In his presentation Steve Vickers will outline some practical risks and countermeasures to businesses operating in Hong Kong and will specifically address the following:

  • An independent and unbiased overview of the political situation in Hong Kong
  • An assessment of the current situation of opposition movements
  • The new political climate
  • The Judiciary in the crucible
  • Integration of Hong Kong into the Greater Bay region - opportunities and threats
  • Heightened regional tensions and the impact of the new Biden administration on these
  • Implications for business
  • SVA’s recommendations for adapting and improvising to the rapidly evolving situation
