This session will provide insights and practical tips for international businesses on how best to manage cross-border transfers of China data, focusing on the final China Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) and new CAC certification scheme, what the CAC is saying about cross-border data transfer (CBDTs), and current compliance and enforcement risks, and how to balance these with strategic and commercial data opportunities.

Carolyn Bigg, Head of DLA Piper's APAC Data Privacy and Cybersecurity Team

Carolyn heads DLA Piper’s APAC data privacy and cybersecurity teams. She is an experienced data protection lawyer, focusing on China and APAC data compliance, and international data transfers. Carolyn advises businesses on the best practice approach to navigating regional and international data privacy compliance, to help them seize opportunities to make the most of their data and digital opportunities in APAC within a compliant governance framework.

Carolyn is a member of IAPP’s Asia Advisory Board.

As a result of her leading work and outreach in the field, Carolyn has been recognized as a leading TMT and data practitioner by publications such as Legal 500 and Chambers.
