HKCCA and FIDA Women in Law and Business Series

The Women in Law and Business panel on May 17th, 2017 was a food lover's delight! Executive chef Nadia El-Mahmoud Koshy recounted growing up in her parents' restaurant Zahra and wanting to bring back her family's recipes to loyal followers and a new generation of diners. She and her sister founded Zahrabel Dining Club and ended up launching it the same month her daughter was born. Perhaps starting a family emboldens us to take chances. Julie Tuan and Sandra Wong, makers of Lola's Ice Pops and Lily & Ran Artisan Ice Creams, met at their children's playgroup. Although they had no experience in frozen desserts or the F&B business, Lola's Ice Pops were instantly successful and luxury brands such as Chopard and Lane Crawford approached them to cater their events. Julie and Sandra have grown their families (they both have two children now) and their business, fending off an IP challenge along the way and successfully differentiating their brand from other competitors.

Our audience were treated with baklava from Zahrabel and seven different flavors of Lily & Ran Ice Cream.
