Doing business in mainland China under the latest cybersecurity and data protection laws

With the Cybersecurity Law effective as of 1 June 2017, compliance with Chinese cybersecurity and data protection legal framework has become critical for any companies doing business in mainland China. Risking fines, temporary closure of business or shutdown of one company’s website, the price for non-compliance has never been so high in mainland China. This presentation focused on key items of the latest cybersecurity and data protection legal framework to support in house counsel in their journey toward compliance such as cross-border data transfer, personal information privacy rights, breach notifications and the cybersecurity infrastructure framework.
